Book Synopsis

Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they're destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she's found the thing she's been made for.
Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries' seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.
At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointy as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.
Until one day, he does...
As the world turns upside down and a hero is needed to save them all, Hazel tries to remember her years spent pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?

Such a sucker for faeries and Holly Black. Wished I would've bought this in paperback to keep forever but waiting till I got my hands on it to read it after the free preview was too much. I absolutely loved the characters, the story and setting. I hope she never stops writing not many faerie books out there and she is absolutely amazing at bringing this other world to life.

This is one of the most well written books I have ever read. It's a book many gay kids never thought they would ever get. It enhanced my sense of "normal" in the best way. Holly Black is a visionary tying In the realities of the modern world as well as the magical world in which lurks in our shadows. It is a must read for anyone. The way she utilizes words is enchanting. If I could give more than 5 stars you bet I would. Will defiantly be reading more of her books!

Holly Black does another masterful job of giving voice to our dark and sinister dreams and musings with bark, leaf, and bone in the land of the fae. Again, these are not the tales of childhood but the real tales of lesson and triumph meant to inspire the reader to feats beyond their station and beyond imagination. Lovely read, beautifully flawed and embraceable characters in a world you can't help but want to be a part of.. In all its beautiful horror.
