Book Synopsis

New York Times bestseller!

"Sara Holland is a fierce storyteller. Everless gives new and terrifying meaning to the phrase running out of time." —Stephanie Garber, New York Times bestselling author of Caraval

In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever.

But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate—and the fate of time itself.

Fans of Victoria Aveyard, Kendare Blake, and Stephanie Garber will devour this lush novel's breathtaking action, incredible romance, and dangerous secrets.

If you live a book that jumps from one topic to another without any detail between, then this book’s for you!! But I’m being serious the plot is hard to follow and it makes very little sense. In the beginning it starts off strong and is seemingly good but when it gets near the middle and end of the book it’s completely terrible and anticlimactic. It’s a waste of money and isn’t all that enjoyable- it’s veryyyy boring.

This book pulled me in from the first page. Its so unique from every other book I’ve ever read (and there’s a lot) and everything was done beautifully. Can’t wait for the sequel to come out!

First read of 2018! Woohoo! Not a bad way to start the year. But dammit why do I have to wait a YEAR for the sequel?!!! I pray to God that I can have an arc soon. Holland, I praise and thank you for writing this jewel of a book that will live on for centuries (pun intended😉)!

this book was so unique--and i loved it. i stayed up all night reading (and finishing) the entire book because each page just had me wanting more! i'm already anticipating the second book! at first i was a bit reluctant because the beginning was confusing and the entire time i thought i had everything figured out, but boy was i wrong. once you keep reading, you understand it more and there will be surprises throughout the book! im an absolute fan of series like a court of thorns and roses, red queen, shatter me, the selection, and flawed (and many many more),so if you liked those books this book is a must-read!
  • Can’t wait for the next in the series!

I read this book after a recommendation from Lauren Oliver’s Facebook page. Tried a sample and was hooked... read it all in less than 24 hours. I don’t like reading previews because I can usually figure out too much from what is written, so I’ll just say that this was well written (with plenty of surprises) and leave it at that.
